The 300-page book, Be Safe, is the culmination of twenty years of research to find what is missing in the area of accident prevention. I began searching for answers after two friends suffered a fatal accident on the job. These linemen were technically competent and knew all the protective equipment and steps to remain safe. These accidents left me wondering the following; what have we failed to learn that can render a lifetime of experience and knowledge useless at the most inopportune time? The only conclusion which made any sense is that there must be missing information from our safety training which leaves even the most skilled lineman susceptible to an accident.

As the answers began to come together, it was clear that technical training and the use of protective equipment is only half the knowledge needed to work accident free for a lifetime. The missing information was revealed to be in the ability to utilize our most powerful safety device, the mind. The mind has the ability to ignore visual information not deemed important or is unexpected. How the mind actually stores memories of workplace procedures will determine whether we retrieve these skills correctly, or we receive a watered down mental composite. There are five areas of self-created limitations which fuels compulsive thinking, and the smallest mind created limitation has the ability to diminish one’s awareness for existing hazards instantly. You have always possessed the power within your mind to eliminate accidents; however, until now no other safety training taught the necessary mental skills to truly, Be Safe!
