Des Moines Register, May 29,2000:

A KGAN television news photographer remained in critical condition Sunday after the mast on his news van touched an overhead power line.

He was raising the communications mast for the 6 p.m. news show when it struck a 115,000 volt power line at Squaw Creek campground in Marion. He suffered severe burns.

He was taken to a Cedar Rapids hospital before being transferred to University Hospitals in Iowa City. About 1500 Alliant Energy customers were without power for about 90 minutes as a result of the accident.
